| Human Anatomy and Physiology Lectures on the Human System, How it Works, How it is Structured, & How it Applies to Kung-Fu
This series of lectures were originally given to a class of Wing Chun Teachers and assistants of the WCKFC. These lectures were intended to give a level of understanding that could not otherwise be obtained through ordinary study, as Steve Barninger steps the class through Human Anatomy and Physiology and how it pertains to the art of Kung Fu. If you want to know more about the physiology of the human body and how to take advantage to support you and otherwise hinder your opponent then you will enjoy these video lectures on DVD.
1. Principles of Anatomy and Physiology (1 hour)
Perhaps the most important video in this series as it examines the “principles” of how the human body functions. Steve Barninger helps thousands of students in Kung Fu understand and enjoy the principles of human anatomy and physiology. The depth of presentation is perfect for the martial artist, as he avoids regular medical scientific terminology and presents his lecture in a fashion that is informative to any martial artist; as he explores the possibility of attack and defense in the Kung Fu world.
2. Bone and Muscle Working Together (50 minutes)
The skeleton and muscles function together as the musculoskeletal system. This system (often treated as two separate systems, the muscular, and skeletal plays an important homeostatic role: allowing the you to move to more favorable external conditions, for defense and attack. Certain cells in the bones produce immune cells as well as important cellular components of the blood. Bone also helps regulate blood calcium levels, serving as a calcium sink. Rapid muscular contraction is important in generating internal heat. These things and many more are taught to you with ease through Steve Barninger’s style of ease and good humor.
3. Heart Functions (50 minutes) As the blood system begins and is maintained within the heart, Steve examines the anatomy and physiology of the heart, topics include: heart muscle, blood and oxygen supply, vessels, valves, aorta, and the role that lungs play within this system; and how the whole pertains to fighting.
4. Muscular System (1 hour) So what do muscles do? Muscles move you, without muscles you could not defend yourself, or even launch an attack. There would be no smiling or food moving through your digestive tract. The fact is, without muscles you could not do anything, even live. |
