EWC Review: This print-on-demand book is well made. The content is more of an overview of the system and its components and highlights of Hoffman's career. We found the book to be interesting and a good introduction to the system, but lacking substance for those who are trying to learn Weng Chun. There is a lot of "fluff" to generate 300 pages. The content could be easily put in a book half this size. We would recommend this book if you are a collector or interested in Weng Chun on a high level, but not if you want to learn the system. We do note, that this book was not meant to teach the system, per Andreas Hoffman's quote below:
"It is hoped that it will provide a sound first impression to the newcomer to martial arts and demonstrate the simplicity and effectiveness of fighting according to principles to the more experienced, illustrating the achievement of gentle/internal power. For those who are practicing Weng Chun, it provides a reference work in which the fundamental exercises and theory are explained. The historical background, the association with Chan (Zen), and Weng Chun as an expression of Traditional Chinese Medicine all help our understanding of Weng Chun as a whole".
