The Ultimate Long Poles (Luk Dim Boon Quan)
For real Wing Chun practitioners this is a dream pole and will wear you out easily.
These poles come in two sizes: 9 feet and 3 meters (almost 10 feet) (most on the market are 8-9ft) and are slightly tapered. You can't find such a tapered pole anywhere else in the world.
A note on the length: In 1964 when Buick Yip began learning from his Sifu, Chu Shong Tin, he mentioned that the pole was very long, but Master Chu told him that Yip Man said the pole should be even longer...
We, at the Wing Chun Archive, smashed these poles repeatedly and they do not break.
The material is made out of a classic material they call "Qwan Din" in Chinese, and is not found in western forestry. Qwan Din is commonly used in making oars, like the long oars in the sampan, and it can be put into water permanently and will not rot. They are also heavy and flexible (imagine the long oars rowing against water constantly). This wood could have very well been the material of the original Chi Sin Monk Luk Dim Boon Quan on the Red Boats.
The 9 foot poles normally weigh-in at 5-6 lbs. Tip is 1" Base varies from 1 1/4 inch to 1 3/4 inch.
Important Notes on Shipping:
1) Most of the Poles we now carry are 9 feet long due to the fact UPS, FedEx, DHL, and USPS will not ship anything over 9 feet. If you are overseas we can still ship you the 3 meter poles, but we don't carry many in stock, so if this is a must then write us to check current 3 meter pole stock.
2) If you want to order multiple poles please contact us for a shipping quote. Serious inquiries only. Shipping a second pole is usually dramatically cheaper than the first pole, especially to Canada and over seas.
3) If you are overseas from the US you can also contact us for a shipping quote. The average shipping is $200 - $300 via DHL Express (1-2 day). DHL is the cheapest carrier by far. The $250 price listed in the dropdown is a average price. |
