Ip Man Ving Tsun Genealogy Second Edition
Comments:
This book is much nicer than it's predecessor (the thin black one) being twice as thick and in color. It gives the lineage of a good number of Yip Man's students and their down line.
However, in my opinion it is a bit incomplete because you 1) had to pay $50 to be in it and 2) not everyone knew about or was invited to be in it 3) had some sifus listed students, not disciples in their downline.
To be fair, I of all people know how difficult a project like this is. With many students switching teachers, and teachers backstabbing students, studens misclaiming teachers to use their name, and the normal political junk any type of lineage collection usually results in one big headache and is vastly incomplete. So it gets an "A" for effort, in the least.
Overall, though, it is a great addition to your collection. The book itself is very nicely done and looks great on your shelf. Even I learn a lot about the lineages from it, and I deal in the stuff daily. |
