Wing Chun Connection - PVC Dummy (No Stand) (aka Muk Yan Jong, or
Mook Yan Jong)
This stand has an extra 20 lbs weight bolted to the inside of the dummy. This will give the dummy a little extra weight and make it feel more like a real wood dummy - it is actually about the same weight as a normal hardwood dummy. The weight is secured in such a way that it should never come lose. If you like the idea of PVC, but want a dummy with a little more weight, then this is it.
This jong is made to the specifications of the Ip Ching lineage (one of Ip Man's sons). It is hand made in the USA.
This is one of the best PVC dummy on the market today.
This is an inexpensive dummy, but not a cheaply made dummy. It is made to the correct dimensions with hardwood arms and leg. Each part of the dummy is carefully constructed.
You will receive the body, arms, leg, and cross slats for mounting.
(This dummy does not ship with a stand - you will have to make your own for now, which is much cheaper).
The Body
The body is a PVC pipe that has been capped at both ends. The body is well made and most people cannot tell it is made from PVC at first. PVC is the most durable body possible and you can use this dummy outside, unlike wooden dummies (they all warp or crack over time). Weight is about 65 lbs (add about 20 with the arms and leg for about 85 total lbs).
The Arms
Each arm is made from solid hardwood ash. This is the same material baseball bats are made from and will hold up under heavy hitting. The two upper arms are offset in the
traditional way. The middle arm is centered. The pins for the arms and leg are made for airplane grade aluminum.
The Leg
The leg is well made and reinforced at the joint. When kicking at the knee or above there should never be any case where the leg breaks.
The Finish
The dummy is painted black and the arms/legs/slats are sanded and painted black. The paint is a 3-step process, first a primer, then a bed liner followed by a gloss oil base paint for substance and durability.
