Orca (Killer Whale) Butterfly Swords - Sharp

Orca Butterfly Swords (Collector's Series/Special Edition). We have only a few pair of these Orca BJD knives, a modern interpretation of the Moy Yat "Cake Cutter" blade, that we picked up as a side-car to a U.K. school private order. The handles are ergonomically shaped to fit the inside of a closed fist and angled slightly downward for improved power. Handle scales are black micarta™-style material, a comfortable and more stable material than wood. It is used in tactical bladed weaponry intended for serious field use. Eight small pins (a feature used by Modell Design LLC for its combat knives), plus a decorative mosaic pin, as well as the usual glue, help fix them to the full tang. A nearly full length swage eases entry and exit on thrusts and helps keep weight low. A slight recurve improves cutting and slicing. The swage is blunt and there is a scallop in the spine underneath the quillon for extra hand room to allow flipping to the reverse grip position.

The Orca design has flowing lines from the pointy butt (a nice extra when attacking with a punch or hammerfist) through the tip. An extremely wide, difficult hollow grind finishes off the picture creating an integrated hole that sets a new aesthetic standard for modern BJD. Great design and a weight on the lighter end of the combat spectrum make them a dream to use.

Every knife is hand-made of professionally tempered weapon's grade Bohler blade steel. The photos are of a representative pair.
