Applied Wing Chun Butterfly Swords - FIRST MADE (Sharp)
(a.k.a. Wing Chun Butterfly Knives, Bart Jarm Do, Bot Jaam Dao, Hudiedao)

This listing is for the master/first made of this series. The main difference between this master and the later models: this one has the entire edge sharpened (not just the first half). The grind is not as wide. The handle is a different color, has a larger belly, and has a tiny bit more texture.

The Applied Wing Chun Butterfly Swords are a very limited edition collector's item. They are beautiful and very comfortable 12" stabbers.

These swords were designed for the students of Sifu Duncan Leung's Applied Wing Chun. They are based on comments of top-level students of Sifu Leung, including Sifu Larry Saccoia. They are slightly different than the standard "Duncan" swords sold on his site which are very triangular in shape... but they keep all the functionality that the lineage needs, and actually improves upon a number of functions. These are great swords for this lineage and many others as well.

The only real difference between these pairs and Duncan’s is the rounding of the blade's belly. His blade is not rounded and remains wide down to the D-guard. Many people actually prefer the blade rounded as it is better balanced and can slice much better. In addition, the bottom 2/3rd of the blade is blunted and the top 1/3rd sharp. This is a very common request for swords to give a better blocking edge, among other things.

"I received the swords on Saturday and I am very pleased, I found them to be extremely effective for the way I use them. They are perfectly weighted and balanced…the correct amount of the lower blade is blunted and the top part of the blade has a perfect cutting edge. The handle feels very good and perfectly centered with the blade that allows for fast quick cuts with the flick of my wrist. The blade is very responsive and fast!!

The downward angle of the blade and swage at the tip make thrusting stabs easy and deadly. The quillion may not be perfect for flipping the blade, but excellent for trapping and the sword still is very comfortable in a reverse grip. Basically, this sword has all the design of Duncan’s sword with a better-rounded belly on the blade…I am extremely pleased!!"
Sifu Larry Saccoia, 40 Year Student of Sifu Leung, Instructor Wing Chun University on Applied Wing Chun.

Things to Consider Before Ordering:

1) Customers (you) must check with your local laws to determine the legality of all items ordered. Everything Wing Chun, LLC is not responsible for any items seized by customs and will not knowingly make shipments to countries where any items are illegal. By placing an order, you are representing to Everything Wing Chun that the products ordered are lawful in your local jurisdiction and that you will use the products in compliance with all applicable laws. Customer accepts full responsibility and costs for all customs fees. Everything Wing Chun will not replace or refund any sword confiscated by local authorities or customs agents. To date we've not seen any swords confiscated. If you are in Australia we know you need a permit for swords (even when not sharp), but you might be able to have them delivered to a local knife shop. All swords, unless otherwise noted, are shipped as blunt display weapons, which technically they are.

2) These are handmade. There will be very slight "imperfections" on most swords. For example, you might have slight variations in weight (we tried to match the swords within 10 grams), the quillion or blade shape won't match 100%, etc. These type of things are NOT defects. It is the result of humans making and shaping every aspect of the sword. These "imperfections", when they exist, have already been priced into these swords.

3) Plain Language Disclaimer: You won't sue us for anything related to using these swords for any reason what-so ever. If you drop one on your foot, chop a friends finger off, poke your eye out, or the swords break and you get hurt - or whatever - you agree that is your own fault and won't hold us responsible. That includes Everything Wing Chun, Aaron Cantrell, Jeffrey Modell, Modell Design LLC, or any members, other persons, entities, associates, suppliers or resellers.
