Bruce Bao - Long Pole - Kwan Din Wood

IMPORTANT: The poles in the pictures are a sample of Kwan Din Wood poles that we deem "straight". They are a good example of the quality you can expect, and you can see that each has been numbered so you can compare the one you receive to these pictures. (the ones in the grass are sold out, the ones on the square tiles are the current stock). Please keep in mind that wood is wood and can warp when it changes environments. These pictures are how your pole will look before shipping. Also, please note that hairline checking is common in these poles, and is not a cause or concern.

This long pole is made from an Ironwood that some Sifus think this wood was originally used by the red boats and is also called Kwan Din (we personally do not think this is the legendary Qwan Din that Buick Yip uses, but rather a similar species). The wood is hard and does oxidate like Qwan Din, with the heartwood turning a deep brown over time. Regardless, this is an excellent pole.

Length: Approx 107.5 inches (2.73 m) 104 inches (2.64 m) due to 2018 shipping regulations.
Weight: On average a pole is 6-7 lbs (2.7 - 3.1 kgs), but it does fluctuate some based on density. Many are over 3kg.
Diameter: Approx 1.5/1.57 inches (4cm) at handle gradually tapered to 1.25 inch at tip (3.8 cm).
Measurements are not exact as each pole is hand made, but should be close.

- This pole is waxed/oiled. You can consider varnishing it for maximum protection.
- This pole was professionally dried to maintain correct moisture and minimize cracking.
- This pole is hand-crafted.
- The wood for this pole was legally harvested.
- The wood resistant to rot.
- The surface of the wood turns a dark color over time when it comes in contact with oxygen. During shipping, or training, the surface may slighly rub and you will see a lighter wood color - this is normal and that lighter wood will darken over time.

This pole is great for exercises, form work, partner pole work, work with swords, etc. This pole is thick enough to use for smash training.

Many of the poles have minors scuffs, marks or cosmetic blemishes. This is to be expected. Obviously, we would prefer to receive these poles in perfect condition from the maker, but it never happens. So just be forewarned if you expect perfection. It shouldn't be a big deal because as soon as you start using the pole for training it will get scuffed up anyway.
