This is the newest version of the Comtech Stinger. It is slightly larger than the old version and the key ring hole is thicker and much stronger. The lines on the new version are much cleaner, which gives you a much firmer grip when compared to the old version. James Keating developed this tool many years ago and the Stinger has become a household name in personal self-defense circles. It is designed to be a simple key chain tool that will also act as a "force multiplier". It is very easily carried and concealed and it is an effective tool to stun an attacker, allowing you time to escape. There is really nothing like it for ease of carry and access. It is light, concealable and easily deployed. It passes unnoticed by 90% of those who see it and we've never had a problem on a plane (it can pass as a "pressure point massage" device). The Stinger measures about 1/2" thick x 2" wide x 3" long.
Even though the Stinger has been around a long time, it is not often spoken about. We really can't say anything bad about this thing. We were able to strike through boards an into cinder blocks with only a little discomfort to the palm, but the power delivery at the business end is worth any minor discomfort.
Also, as some of you well know, in a fight you can easily break your fist on someone's skull, even if your hands are conditioned. This device will help prevent this from happening, although we'd actually be very hesitant to strike somebody in the head with the Stinger, unless we felt justified to deploy lethal force. A good crack to the skull, temple, or other sensitive spot with the Stinger could put somebody in the hospital, and possibly put you in prison. The thought of being hit with one of these things full-power makes us cringe.
