After three years training in the Wong Shun Leung System and attaining a trainee teacher certificate, Jason began to teach Wing Chun to a small group in Oxford. Since 1997, he has literally practiced and studied the wing Chun systems methods, concepts and applications daily. Analyzing every piece of video footage, book and article he could find from all the varied methods, concepts and applications in order to offer his students the highest level of information and coaching.
Starting in 1982, Jason Kokkorakis studied Judo, Wu Shu, Tai Chi, Ninjitsu, Capoeira, Ju Jitsu, Taw Kwon Do, Escrima, Boxing, and Aikido before taking up Ip Chun's method of Wing Chun in 1992.
During this time, a classmate at the Tai Chi Chuan school, had recognized Jason's punching style as Wing Chun, and keen to exchange technique, Jason was invited to his home where they began to practice together, in a garage, along with several other martial art students. During this time Jason had began to take lessons in Wing Chun at another school in St Albans as traveling to Leeds was a 6 hour round trip. Whereas St Albans was a much shorter journey of only 4. Training at the garage continued on for approximately a year during which time Jason and the other guys exchanged techniques and advice as taught by their prospective teachers. After three years training in the Wong Shun Leung System and attaining a trainee teacher certificate, Jason began to teach Wing Chun to a small group in Oxford.
His teaching lead him to meet a Police, public order training officer that became his student also. During that time Jason also took up Kendo, but 6 months later and again due to finances he had to give up this study. Approximately a year later he moved to Athens and began to teach Wing Chun there, from his fathers' apartment. During that time he was invited to begin teaching classes at a school under the Duncan Leung Lineage, where he also began Kali training and Gracie Ju Jitsu with one of his students. He also met and trained with Sifu of the William Cheung Lineage, and had some training experience with Gracie Ju Jitsu and Kenpo Karate instructors.
Since his return to the UK in 2000 he has attended seminars on the Wing Chun system as taught by well known Wing Chun teachers.
